The new SPS control and integration of hydraulically-controlled units have placed the flexibility of the KE machine series on a new high level. With plaintext messages, error diagnosis and operator guidance, the new SPS control provides the machine operator with a whole range of important advantages. Integrated control possibilities enable the machines to run on an "unmanned" basis as well. The flagship of the "Kneissler" corporate division is the KE-12/180 indexing drum machine, which is used for producing workpieces up to 25 mm in diameter and up to 140 mm long from feed stock, or up to 16 mm diameter and 110 mm long from coil stock. An automatic sorting and conveying installation can be added as a feed for finishing extruded or turned parts. The indexing drum machines really come into their own, however, when workpieces requiring narrow concentricity tolerances need to be manufactured. Self-centering of the workpieces in the adapter ring enables high accuracy and thus absolute concentricity. The adapter ring on the KE is equipped with a wedge-type collet chuck and dimensioned in such a way that even during difficult machining - drill holes of up to 12 mm diameter in steel, for instance - the necessary clamping force and therefore the precision required are both attained. High cycle times are achieved on the KE machines because of their mechanical control, which is backed up by hydraulic control or NC control of individual units as required. Special units that are used between the stock guides and the workpiece clamping in the adapter ring enable knurling, endless thread cutting, and recessing at any location on the workpiece. The KE series gives you investment security because of its consistently modular design. Eighty percent of all machine parts are standardized from machine type to machine type, and can be exchanged to suit any new machining requirements that arise.
